White Fillings

Even if you brush and floss twice a day, you can still develop a cavity. Left untreated, tooth decay can spread and create significant oral health problems, as well as pain. When a cavity strikes, Dr. Eick prefers to place a composite resin filling rather than metal/amalgam filling. Tinted to match your tooth's color, a composite filling will blend with your tooth enamel, so your all-white smile remains intact.

Composite fillings offer additional advantages over traditional amalgam fillings. Metal fillings can leak and crack over time, compromising the strength and health of your teeth. Because tooth-colored fillings bond more securely to tooth structure, they actually strengthen teeth. Furthermore, tooth-colored fillings are conservative. Dr. Eick usually removes less tooth structure for composites, which is always best.
